Ever since the shaders mod has merged with Optifine, Optifine has slowly been adding new features to the shaders implementation which are very useful. You also have to pay attention to which pack you install. Nodes will appear overly bright and "blend" with blocks behind them somewhat the thaumometer will look weird eldritch blocks which have the star field effect will instead render as just bright white.
When using shaders, a couple different things in Thaumcraft will break.
